about

An epic track spanning over twenty minutes, telling the story of one man's fall into insanity.

lyrics

A sullen light, a lurid lamp
Shone through the cold
Tore through the damp
Footsteps on cobblestones
Echoed deep within my bones

And I knew I had arrived
A small house, a tiny world
Fascination had unfurled
In me a sense of urgency
So I stepped in
And looked around
A sullen light, dimly lit mound

What I there found
To this very day
Does confound
And to my dismay
I have not dreamt
Of another light
Since the lament
In that fateful night
That still echoes in my bones

A strange and enchanting melody
Then changed my outlook on life
All that I’d learnt, darkness of Self
And the weeping of existence’s breath
On the truth that is creeping towards us
The blink of eye and our mind is rust
An indifferent cosmos, we aren’t even dust

And I knew I had arrived
A small house, a tiny world
Fascination had unfurled
In me a new and wondrous sight

The rising sun is bound to set
The newborn child to die in bed
There is no hope, do not forget
All we are, the walking dead
The fire turns to blackened coal
And for us all, there is no goal
Nothing ever can signify
A divine purpose, a reason why

The years went by, inside that place
Forgetting all of time and space
Beneath the roof of that small home
A little world for me alone
Yet now I wonder, if it was right
To step inside that little light

The rot eats at my limbs
It climbs my body
As I choke on the bile
Of my own melancholy
That brought me here
To witness the dreadful reality
Of complete and utter emptiness

Among the walls of this small tomb
I await death, as in the womb
A sordid light, a tearful lamp
Tore through the day, brought in the damp

A sullen light, a lurid lamp
Shone through the cold
Tore through the damp
Footsteps on cobblestones
Echoed deep within my bones

And all the secrets buried within
Became my own glorious sin
Fortune’s grace never did smile
When my flesh to earth was born
And from that first still life’s exile
Out of the warming comfort torn
I longed to reach for the black star
That shone on me from beyond far
So I beneath, that vast expanse
Found here a way to advance
Further than this mortal coil
Filled with only strife and toil
But now the price has come to me
And that all I can hope to see
Is one more night under this light
Before the dark forevermore
A strange and enchanting melody
Then changed my outlook on life
All that I’d learnt, darkness of Self
And the weeping of existence’s breath
On the truth that we're all just creeping towards death
The blink of eye and our suns fall to frost
An indifferent cosmos we are verily lost

The rot eats at my limbs
It climbs my body
As I choke on the bile
Of my own melancholy
That brought me here
Empty in despair
To witness the end
